More than 150 people gathered in Bangkok to celebrate the winners of the 4th Healthy Aging Prize for Asian Innovation (HAPI). The awards were presented by Mr. Isao Kano, president of the Japan Center for International Exchange (JCIE) and Dr. Yasuyuki Mitsuhashi, Senior Policy Fellow on Healthcare at the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), the co-organizers of HAPI. The program began with comments from guest speakers, and members of the HAPI International Selection Committee were on hand to offer their thoughts on the award-winning innovations.
Rapid population aging requires creative approaches from both the public and private sectors. Launched in 2020, the Healthy Aging Prize for Asian Innovation (HAPI) seeks to recognize and amplify innovative policies, programs, services, and products that address the challenges facing aging societies, help extend healthy and meaningful lives, and improve the provision of care to older adults.
The award ceremony offered a chance for past and present winners to meet, along with experts and practitioners from throughout the region. There was also a strong media presence, which resulted in extensive coverage of the event in the Thai and Japanese press.
