After participating in the “Regional Meeting on Enhancing Digital Literacy among Older Persons in the Asia and the Pacific,”  JCIE was invited to contribute to a report reviewing strategies in policies and programs aimed at improving life quality for older adults in China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea.

This report provides an overview of the importance of age-friendly cities and the roles that a digital society plays in equipping these with improved productivity and connectivity to support loneliness and keeping families connected. It also includes a chapter which introduces the profiles of China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea as key countries of interest for the case studies in the East and Northeast Asia region and their demographic transitions, including policies undertaken to adapt to this change. The report highlights trends, challenges, and lessons in creating inclusive, tech-driven aging societies through case studies from the three countries.

JCIE, together with partners from China and the Republic of Korea, co-authored the report and presented case studies highlighting the use of digital technologies to improve the quality of life and cohesiveness of communities.
